It is sad to report that the death of Mr. Amnuai Waikasicam occurred on the morning of the 8th January.
The 49 year old Thai was suffering from a gastric ulcer and was on medication from the local hospital in Naklua. The body was taken away to be prepared for funeral rites.

What has been described as Pattaya’s first electrical carnival parade, the Pattaya International Mardi Gras 2009 event was announced at City Hall on the afternoon of the 7th January by Mayor Ittipol Khunplume.
This spectacular parade organised by City Hall in partnership with TAT and private business sectors will take place in Pattaya on the 23rd January to promote and boost business and the economy in the Eastern Seaboard.

Mr. Prasarn Krampaiboon had a very bad start to the New Year when he found himself admitted to Banglamung Hospital on the morning of the 8th January.
The reason; he had been shot in the back by a member of a gang of vicious teenagers, all because he beeped his horn as he tried to pass when they were blocking the road he was travelling on in Soi 3, Pattaya Beach Road. Police were called to the hospital and he gave a statement after receiving treatment. The 27 year old chef said that he was on his way home after work when he came across 6 youngsters on 4 bikes blocking his way. Because he tooted his horn, they took offence and charged at him. In panic he drove through but was shot in the back in his attempt to escape. A report was made and an investigation is under way.

The Siam Firebird bar on Second Road was decked out with blue and white balloons (the colour of the flag of Finland) on the evening of the 5th January.
The event was to celebrate the 47th birthday of Finnish expat Mr. Markku Mannelin. Over 80 guests came along to wish the birthday boy all the best and settled down to the serious business of drinking and enjoying the live entertainment. Hyvaa syntymapaivaa!

A special farewell party on the morning of the 6th January before setting off to take part in a special Paralympics Games to be held in North Thailand. Deputy Governor of Chonburi, Mr. Thani Samartkit and Father Lawrence Patin presided over handing over a number of donations to many of the students. Also a cheque for 1 million baht was given to help sponsor underprivileged youngsters in their quest to become prominent sportsmen and women participating in the 27th Paralympics Games in Phitsanulok, North Thailand from the 17th to 21st January.
